Memorial Day Classic

On Monday, May 27th at 8:30 am 16 elite level athletes (well... athletes) toe the starting line of the Moab Disc Golf Club's Memorial Day Classic tournament. The tournament was organized into an opening round of 18 holes after which the scores would be tallied up before a second round of 9 holes to determine the overall winner. Competitors were paired into groups of four and the competition began! On any given hole you could expect to see a collection of Hyzers, Anhyzers, rollers, forehands and tomahawks all of which moved the players one stroke closer to their goal of winning the Memorial Day Classic. We knew it was a good tournament when the competition was so tight after the first round but no one could have expected what happened at the end of the second round. After 27 holes there was a three-way tie for first place with Chris Schaaf, Landon Mcellhiney and Marc Grimes all even at par. It took two more holes of "sudden death" golf to determine that Chris would be our 2013 Memorial Day Classic Champion! What could be more exciting?

Chris Shcaaf FOR THE WIN!

The rest of the scores are listed below:

Cool post MOAB disc golf. It is always cool to see close competition where it even close enough to go into sudden death. I have played in a couple tournaments, but mostly the am 3 division, I am more of a casual player. I watch a lot of tournaments on YouTube. Congratulations to Chris on the win btw. Even par is pretty good, I am getting close to playing par golf, I need to play a little more though. Does this tournament happen every year? I would like to see what happened if there was another one.
